Dakota has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Port Huron Red Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Dakota is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Red Hawks in Michigan (the Cougars are ranked 18th, while the Red Hawks are ranked 102nd).
Dakota scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They breezed by L'Anse Creuse North at home to the tune of 76-33. Dakota has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 23 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dakota to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tambre Williams, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Williams has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Samone Andrews, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Port Huron's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 43-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grosse Pointe South. That's two games in a row now that Port Huron has lost by exactly five points.
Dakota pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Port Huron, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season.
Dakota didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Red Hawks in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 42-37 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dakota since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
