Luke Vakiner made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Central City/Centura let Colbyn Peters and Mason Gorecki run wild. Peters went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Gorecki got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Peters has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kayden Morner, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Central City/Centura hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Falls City struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Thurston-Cuming County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Norfolk on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Thurston-Cuming County has posted since April 3rd.
The team relied heavily on Braylen Wegner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Thurston-Cuming County's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Central City/Centura, their victory bumped their record up to 20-1.
