The Northtown Pumas pushed their score all the way to 56 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Chicago Academy 60-56. Northtown has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
It was another big night for Isaiah Cortez, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds for Chicago Academy. That makes it five consecutive games in which Cortez has scored at least 25% of Chicago Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Yaquub Ihmud, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Northtown bumped their record down to 1-3 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Chicago Academy, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Northtown will be playing at home against North Shore Country Day at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chicago Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Northside at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Northside is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
