III Section IV recap October 1, 2013
Will Kepner and Kaine Bayze provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Mohave. The connection went for 67 yards, the longest such play in III Section IV this season.
Prescott took down the Thunderbirds 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Bayze ran for 119 yards and caught 1 pass for 67 yards in the win.
The Badgers' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kepner threw for 98 and 2 touchdowns and Bayze had 67 yards receiving. On the ground Bayze contributed 119 yards.
Prescott's dynamic duo of Kepner and Bayze proved to be unstoppable against Mohave, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Micah Nevarez provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Mingus lost to Bradshaw Mountain. He completed 12 passes for 151 yards and also ran for 49 yards. Nevarez's favorite target this week was Brennan Kitchen, who caught 4 passes for 46 yards.
Chris Parker made the biggest impact on defense this week as Cody Collett's team defeated Rod Holmes' team. The 5-foot-8 senior.
Flagstaff's Kyle Wilson and Dylan Mathews led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wilson has thrown for 757 yards this season, while Mathews has 7 catches for 264 yards. The Badgers' Bayze leads the league in rushing yards with 761.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Kingman takes on Prescott. As it stands, the Bulldogs are in third, while the Badgers are in second.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Kingman takes on Prescott. David Ward's team has allowed 108 points this season, while the Badgers have given up 65.
The Bears and the Marauders played the most contested game in III Section IV this week, with the Bears eventually emerging with a 14-8 victory.
