The Gardner Wildcats were the 60-56 winner over the Burncoat Patriots when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Gardner took a serious blow against Burncoat on Saturday, falling 85-29. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Gardner has scored all season.
Leading Burncoat to victory were Cheyton Marshall and Kevin Dunn. Marshall scored 13 points, while Dunn scored 16 points. The matchup was Marshall's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Mwangi, who scored ten points.
Gardner now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Burncoat, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gardner will face off against Granby at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Burncoat will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against South at 6:30 p.m. on January 3rd. South will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings (they are ranked 180th, while Burncoat is ranked seventh).
