Continental is 0-6 against Leipsic since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Continental Pirates will head out on the road to take on the Leipsic Vikings at 1:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 18 consecutive losses for Continental and three for Leipsic.
Continental suffered their biggest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Thursday. They suffered a rough 45-23 loss at the hands of Fort Jennings. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Continental in their matchups with Fort Jennings: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Continental got a solid performance out of Ashlyn Dudgeon, who scored nine points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Crossgrove, who dropped a double-double on 11 rebounds and ten blocks.
Meanwhile, Leipsic was the victim of a tough 58-36 defeat at the hands of Columbus Grove last Thursday. While losing is never fun, Leipsic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 421st, while Columbus Grove is ranked 176th).
Continental bumped their record down to 0-14 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road. As for Leipsic, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Continental was dealt a bruising 54-22 defeat at the hands of Leipsic in their previous meeting back in January of 2022. Can Continental avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
