Carrollton extended the longest winning streak in Western Illinois Valley - South this week by beating West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs], 34-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Greenfield/Northwestern and Pleasant Hill/Western played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Greenfield/Northwestern eventually emerging with a 12-6 victory.
Carrollton's dynamic duo of Jacob Smith and Jordan Harr proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Smith threw for 97 yards and one touchdown and Harr had 50 yards receiving. Jordan Kallal helped Carrollton's passing attack out by catching one ball for 37 yards.
Blake Decamp made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Wolves fell to the Tigers. The 5-foot-10 junior forced one fumble and recorded one fumble.
Seth Steroemer was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 186 yards on 46 carries as Pleasant Hill/Western bested West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs]. Aaron Rodhouse also contributed to the rushing game with 36 yards on the ground.
The Hawks' Smith and Luke Palan have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Western Illinois Valley - South in both passing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 531 yards this season, while Palan, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 15 catches for 214 yards. The Wolves' Steroemer leads the league in rushing yards with 799.
Carrollton led the league in scoring this week after putting up 34 points on the Wildcats. Smith ran for six yards in the win.
