Softball Recap: Winters Gets the Win

While Winters's win against Pierce wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors skirted past the Bears 4-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 31, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Jayle Jimenez and Teagan Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Jimenez scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Garcia scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Nelson, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Winters' victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Pierce, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winters will welcome East Nicolaus at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Spartans have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Pierce, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Gridley at 4:00 p.m. on the 23rd. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 13.3 runs per game this season.
