The Thurgood Marshall Cougars lost against the Meadowdale Lions back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The game between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Thurgood Marshall falling 62-44. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Samarra Gibson and Ma?Kayla Williams certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Gibson scored 10 points along with 7 steals, while Williams scored 22 points along with 9 rebounds. Williams scored a full 50% of Thurgood Marshall's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Among those leading the charge was Zhieyah Rolack, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Meadowdale's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiyah Middlebrook, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds.
Thurgood Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Meadowdale, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thurgood Marshall will challenge Middletown Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Meadowdale, they will head out on the road to face off against Urbana at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
