Hamilton is on a six-game streak of home wins, while the Polar Bears are on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Hamilton Bulldogs will take on the Frost Polar Bears at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Hamilton on the road against the Eagles as the team secured a 61-29 victory. Given Hamilton's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Eagles are ranked 924th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Frost humbled the Eagles with a 68-37 victory.
Frost found their leader in underclassman Brenda Manrriquez, who scored 26 points along with six assists and five steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Manrriquez has scored at least a third of Frost's points. Another player making a difference was Karlee Anderson, who scored 15 points along with five assists and three steals.
Hamilton is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. As for Frost, their win bumped their record up to 25-5.
Everything went Hamilton's way against the Polar Bears in their previous meeting back in January as the Bulldogs made off with a 61-36 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Manrriquez, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Hamilton still be able to contain Manrriquez? There's only one way to find out.
