The Macomb Bombers are taking a road trip to face off against the Liberty Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Bombers fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Saturday's season opener. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Monmouth United on Saturday. The Bombers not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024.
Kendyl Danner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Danner was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Nika Daytner was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lauren Bishop, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Macomb was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monmouth United only posted a batting average of .143.
Meanwhile, Liberty put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against Seymour.
Chandler John spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Liberty's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ava Heming, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Heming is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Anna Dietrich was another, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Macomb took their win against Liberty in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 9-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Macomb since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
