Bellville is 2-8 against Wharton since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bellville Brahmas will be playing at home against the Wharton Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Bellville is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
On Friday, Bellville suffered a tough 72-47 loss at the hands of Royal. While losing is never fun, Bellville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1055th, while Royal is ranked 469th).
Meanwhile, Wharton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Sealy at home to the tune of 95-42. The victory was some much needed relief for Wharton as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Wharton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angell Gaona, Jr., who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. Gaona, Jr. hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games. Jacoryan Dickerson was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds.
Bellville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Wharton, their win bumped their record up to 12-18.
