On Tuesday, the DeMatha Stags faced the Bishop McNamara Mustangs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. DeMatha came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop McNamara and snuck past 65-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
DeMatha found their leader in underclassman Jamaal Mcknight jr., who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Malcolm Thomas, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
DeMatha's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Bishop McNamara, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
DeMatha will head out on the road to face off against St. Mary's Ryken at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bishop McNamara, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against The Heights at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in The Heights' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
