Softball Game Preview: San Ysidro Cougars vs. Chula Vista Learning Community Charter Cobras

San Ysidro is 7-1 against Chula Vista Learning Community Charter since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Cougars will host the Cobras at 4:00 p.m. San Ysidro has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Chula Vista Learning Community Charter is facing San Ysidro at the wrong time: San Ysidro suffered their first home loss of the season on Friday and they're likely out for redemption. They lost 16-2 to the Lancers. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

San Ysidro saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julia Rosales, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Monserrat Rodriguez was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Rodriguez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. She also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Alana Olivas was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

San Ysidro's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Chula Vista Learning Community Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

San Ysidro took their victory against Chula Vista Learning Community Charter when the teams last played back in February by a conclusive 25-15 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Cobras have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
