After four games on the road, Thayer Central is heading back home. They will take on the Fillmore Central Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Thayer Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Fillmore Central is ranked 29th).
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought game, but Thayer Central had to settle for a 44-42 defeat against Southern. Thayer Central has not had much luck with Southern recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Thayer Central's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Will Heitmann, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Sam Souerdyke who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fillmore Central waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 53-40 win over Sutton.
Daniel Stoner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jarin Tweedy, who scored ten points.
Thayer Central has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Fillmore Central, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Thayer Central came up short against Fillmore Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 51-43. Thankfully for Thayer Central, Keegan Theobald (who scored 15 points along with five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
