The Summit Tigers lost against the Aspen Skiers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Summit received a tough blow as they fell 47-31 to Aspen. While losing is never fun, Summit can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Aspen is ranked 31st).
Despite the loss, Summit still got an impressive performance from Matthew Valdez, who scored two points along with three steals. Valdez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played.
Summit has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Aspen, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summit will face off against Buena Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Buena Vista's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for Aspen, Aspen and Steamboat Springs will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Steamboat Springs is on a three-game streak of home wins, Aspen a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
