Lawrence Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Samantha Hughson out in front who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Ellie Farmer, who scored 12 points along with 3 steals.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isabella Daza, who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The match was Daza's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Taylor Carmichael was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 6 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Rocky Mount Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lawrence Academy only pulled down nine.
Lawrence Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Rocky Mount Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-1.
Lawrence Academy will face off against Southampton Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southampton Academy and Lawrence Academy are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads. As for Rocky Mount Academy, they will be playing at home against Pungo Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pungo Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Rocky Mount Academy is ranked 127th).
