Lytle is 10-0 against Cotulla since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lytle Pirates will be playing at home against the Cotulla Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Lytle ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They snuck past Natalia with a 76-72 victory.
Lytle relied on the efforts of Chase Guevara, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Seth Pierce, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pierce has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jayden Perez, who scored 14 points.
Cotulla suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Hondo by a score of 69-66. Cotulla has not had much luck with Hondo recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Lytle has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which somehow isn't as good as their 20-6 record this season. As for Cotulla, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Lytle against Cotulla in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 78-35 win. With Lytle ahead 46-22 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
