Baseball Recap: Halifax Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Halifax came tearing into Wednesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy WolfPack 11-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-4 on Wednesday.

Brandon Schell and Will Steinhauer did most of the damage at the plate: Schell got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Steinhauer got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most RBI Schell has posted since back in April.

Halifax pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Halifax is set to face off against their familiar foe Susquenita at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 2.8, the Blackhawks 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy will take on rival Greenwood at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
