Keyton Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those triples marked the first that he has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Indianapolis Kings gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over Southport. The result was nothing new for Indianapolis Kings, who have now won ten matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Indianapolis Kings got a massive performance out of Austin Kelly, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Kelly a new career-high. Jesse Dengler was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Indianapolis Kings always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Indy Genesis HomeSchool dropped their record down to 12-8-1 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Indianapolis Kings, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Indy Genesis HomeSchool has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Indianapolis Kings struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
