Gilmer has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The White County Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Gilmer is ranked 243rd, while White County is ranked 230th).
Two weeks ago, Gilmer was able to grind out a solid victory over Dawson County, taking the game 31-24.
Aspen Hataway had a dynamite game for Gilmer, rushing for 143 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Hataway really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run. Douglas Callihan and his 81 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Gilmer's victory.
Meanwhile, White County pushed their score all the way to 37 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Pickens by a score of 39-37. White County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, White County got a solid performance out of Tripp Nix, who rushed for 163 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries. Ryan Fowler also helped out as he racked up 144 rushing yards.
Gilmer's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.8 points per game. As for White County, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Gilmer couldn't quite finish off White County in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 and fell 38-35. Can Gilmer avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
