Brentwood walked away with a 63-51 win over Independence. Given Brentwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Independence is ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ella Ryan, who scored 34 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last 14 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Castagna, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Brentwood pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points per game. As for Independence, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Brentwood will be playing in front of their home fans against Franklin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Independence, they will head out on the road to take on Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses for Centennial and four for Independence.
