Volleyball Recap: Lillian Hayden's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Union over Redbank Valley

Union lost against Redbank Valley back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Knights/Damsels came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 3-0. The Knights/Damsels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The final score came out to 25-13, 25-20, 25-18.

Union's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lillian Hayden, who had 18 digs and one assist. Hayden is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Kriebel, who had five digs and two aces.

Union's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Redbank Valley, they now have a winning record of 1-0-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Union will face off against rival Karns City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Redbank Valley is set to challenge their familiar foe Cranberry Area at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
