Western Guilford took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cowboys. Western Guilford has struggled against the Cowboys recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Star Hughes and Leila Henderson certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Hughes scored 19 points along with five rebounds, while Henderson almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Henderson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Juliana May, who scored two points along with seven steals and two blocks.
Western Guilford has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Southwest Guilford, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
Western Guilford will head out on the road to take on the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (Page is ranked 332nd, while the Hornets are ranked 311th). As for Southwest Guilford, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st.
