Baseball Recap: Dawson Wins Going Away Against Meridian

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Dawson had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Meridian Yellowjackets. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Kane Funderburk, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

Dawson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Meridian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-15.

Dawson will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Yellowjackets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
