Football Recap: Fairfield Piles Up the Points Against Teague

Fairfield strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 48-6 victory over the Teague Lions. The Eagles pushed the score to 30-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions had little chance of recovering from.

Kohl Collins was his usual excellent self, throwing for 434 yards and three TDs while completing 80.6% of his passes, and also rushing for 57 yards and one score on only seven carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Connor Colvert was Collins' top target, picking up 75 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Fairfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 226 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 162 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Another reason for the win was Fairfield's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kalil Appel and Brayden Thornburg, who racked up four sacks between them. Thornburg also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight.

Fairfield's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Teague, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.
