Softball Recap: Orange Grove's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Orange Grove came into Tuesday's game having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against the George West Longhorns on Tuesday as the Orange Grove Bulldogs made off with a 21-8 win. Considering the Bulldogs have won seven matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ella Srubar was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 5-for-5. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Avery Morgan was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.

Srubar wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Orange Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Orange Grove's victory bumped their record up to 7-8-1. As for George West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. Orange Grove will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for George West, they will welcome Mathis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. George West has given up an average of 13.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
