They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Coventry Oakers on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Purple sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (105-102) Classical actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 12-25, 28-26, 22-25, 25-23, 15-6.
Classical can attribute much of their success to Angelina Pham, who had 11 digs and two assists. That's the most digs Pham has posted over her last six contests. Gislania Bossoka also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Classical's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Coventry, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Looking ahead, Classical will face off against North Kingstown at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Coventry does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
