The Bauxite Miners will head out to challenge the Mayflower Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bauxite is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.

Bauxite is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Carlisle just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 15-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bison. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Drake Pettus was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Avery Heidelberg was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Bauxite was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Mayflower was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 8-2 to Conway Christian.

Bauxite's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Mayflower, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Bauxite came out on top in a nail-biter against Mayflower in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 12-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bauxite since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
