It was a good run, but the Benjamin Franklin Electrons unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Paul Robeson by a score of 72-69. Benjamin Franklin was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Paul Robeson apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.
Several Electrons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nazire Johnson, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. Johnson hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Soukare Fane, who scored 20 points.
Paul Robeson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rakeem Dunston led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Shiheed Rice-Sloan was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with two blocks.
Benjamin Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Paul Robeson, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-12.
Benjamin Franklin will head out on the road to face off against Samuel Fels at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Samuel Fels is on a six-game streak of home wins, Benjamin Franklin a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Paul Robeson will take on Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Paul Robeson and Central are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
