The Miramonte Matadors will be playing at home against the Las Lomas Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Miramonte was the victim of a rough 41-21 loss at the hands of Campolindo. While losing is never fun, Miramonte can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Campolindo is ranked 124th).
Despite the defeat, Miramonte had strong showings from Myles Bastani, who threw for 96 yards and two touchdowns, and Gabe Roman, who picked up 50 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Las Lomas unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. Their tough 34-14 defeat to Acalanes might stick with them for a while.
This is the second loss in a row for Miramonte and nudges their season record down to 6-2. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-3 Acalanes (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.4% over those games). As for Las Lomas, their loss dropped their record down to 8-1.
Miramonte ended up a good deal behind Las Lomas when the teams last played back in October of 2022, losing 38-21. Will Miramonte have more luck at home instead of on the road?
