Salesian extended the longest winning streak in Santa Fe this week by beating St. Genevieve, 62-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Mustangs.
Salesian's Jihad Vercher and Jermaine Kelly have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Vercher has thrown for 1224 yards this season, while Kelly, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 18 catches for 415 yards. Martinez from Bellarmine-Jefferson leads the league in rushing with 1270 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Roddy Hiatt's team takes on St. Monica. The Mustangs' offense has scored 286 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Mariners have allowed only 112 on the year.
