The Conneaut Spartans waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 55-48 victory over Jefferson Area. This was payback for Conneaut, who suffered a 39-21 loss the last time these two teams met.
Isabella Fix continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Kennedy, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Jefferson Area still got an impressive performance from Mia Contenza, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Contenza is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tatum Bordeaux, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Conneaut's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-9. As for Jefferson Area, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conneaut will take on the Blue Streaks at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Madison presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Spartans in Ohio (the Blue Streaks are ranked 115th, while the Spartans are ranked 451st). As for Jefferson Area, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Warriors at 2:30 p.m.
