The Fort Meade Miners will face off against the Marathon Dolphins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Fort Meade is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Moore Haven get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Miners as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Matthew Pheiffer and Owen Harrell were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Pheiffer pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Harrell didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fort Meade is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-11 otherwise. At the plate, Pheiffer went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI, while Harrell scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Harrell has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Fort Meade let Eli Harrell and DeMarion Abrams run wild. Harrell scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Abrams went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those three hits gave Abrams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleb Hermelbracht, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Fort Meade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moore Haven only posted an OBP of .176.
Meanwhile, Marathon entered their tilt with Glades Day on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Gators 15-0. The Dolphins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by seven runs or more this season.
Bryan Broche was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Stubblefield Jr., who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Marathon pushed their record up to 17-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Fort Meade, their win bumped their record up to 15-11.
Fort Meade beat Marathon 6-3 in their previous meeting back in March. Do the Miners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dolphins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
