Make it 14 blowout wins for the Christoval Cougars this season. They breezed by Sterling City on the road to the tune of 42-13. Winning may never get old, but Christoval sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Christoval's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Halle Hughes led the charge by scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Hughes hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Braylee Silva, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Christoval has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. As for Sterling City, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christoval will challenge Reagan County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Reagan County: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Christoval has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for Sterling City, they will square off against Sonora at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Sonora has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28.
