With a playoff game on the line, the Greenbrier Panthers rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on Searcy with a sharp 42-21 victory. Greenbrier might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five contests by 21 points or more this season.
Leading Greenbrier to victory were Kane Richardson and Miles Miller. Richardson threw for 228 yards and five touchdowns on only 15 passes, while Miller gained 217 total yards and five touchdowns. Miller's longest reception was for an incredible 83 yards.
Despite the loss, Searcy saw an underclassman step up: Rickey Love rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 34 receiving yards.
Greenbrier now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Searcy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
Greenbrier will face off against Benton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Benton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Greenbrier likes a good challenge. Searcy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
