2A District 2 recap October 1, 2013
Sterlington and Mangham played the most contested game in 2A District 2 this week, with Sterlington eventually emerging with a 39-37 victory. Jaylon Wade ran for 176 yards during the win.
Winnfield took down Leesville 27-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Dyimon Jackson was a key player and the best on defense this week as Lake Providence lost to Rayville. The 6-foot-1 defensive back.
Fred Jackson was the best receiver in the league this week as the Panthers lost to the Hornets. Jackson racked up 4 receptions for 90 yards. Bradrick Clemens helped Lake Providence's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 57 yards.
On the heels of Devon Murphy and Wade, the Panthers have had great success on offense. Murphy leads the league in passing with 234 yards, while Wade has rushed for 502 yards this season. Lake Providence's Jackson leads the league in receiving yards with 90 on 4 catches.
Sterlington made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,448 from 4,227. The improvement was largely due to a 39-37 victory over the Dragons last week.
