Avon have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. They will challenge Burke/South Central on the road at 7:00 PM on Friday. The MaxPreps rankings say the odds are against Avon, but that can only make success all the sweeter.
After having lost a blowout in their game three weeks ago against Gayville-Volin, Avon were happy to find some success two weeks ago. Avon took their game against Centerville 26-12. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Avon as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, Burke/South Central put the finishing touches on their 3rd blowout victory of the season last Friday. They took the match and then some with a 55-6 win over Centerville. The Burke/South Central offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the match anyway.
Their wins bumped Avon to 1-4 and Burke/South Central to 4-2. In Burke/South Central's victory, junior Jaden Frank punched in 1 rushing TD and snatched 1 receiving TD and junior Ethan DeLong rushed for 43 yards and 2 touchdowns. We'll see if Avon have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
