Thomas A. Edison hasn't had much luck against Maritime Academy Charter recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Owls will challenge the Seadogs at 3:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Thomas A. Edison is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Simon Gratz. The win was nothing new for the Owls as they're now sitting on five straight.

The team relied heavily on Marisol Valencia, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Omalis Rivera was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Thomas A. Edison was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher in eight consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Maritime Academy Charter got the win against Samuel Fels on Monday by a conclusive 22-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Seadogs.
Leilani Davila made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Davila was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot for a while, having also posted at least one stolen base the last ten times she's played.
In other batting news, Jaycie Clark was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Yareilis Santiago-Campos, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Thomas A. Edison pushed their record up to 5-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Maritime Academy Charter, the victory got them back to even at 6-6-1.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Thomas A. Edison has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .547. However, it's not like Maritime Academy Charter struggles in that department as they've averaged .463. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
