Anaheim is 6-1 against Los Amigos since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Colonists are taking a road trip to face off against the Lobos at 3:15 p.m. Anaheim is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Anaheim's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Santa Ana Valley 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Colonists, who have now won eight games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Chloe Tabita made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kamila Ramirez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Valerie Florido was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Anaheim kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 15 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Los Amigos came up short against Santiago on Wednesday and fell 6-3.
Like Anaheim, Los Amigos also got a great game from a two-way player: Sophia Gutierrez. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). What's more, Gutierrez gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Gutierrez wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aleenah Muniz, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Anaheim's record now sits at 11-5. As for Los Amigos, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Anaheim has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Los Amigos struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Anaheim's way against Los Amigos in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Anaheim made off with an 18-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colonists since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
