Lawrence County's 16-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 55-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hatton. Lawrence County has struggled against Hatton recently, as their contest on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Lawrence County had strong showings from Ava Templeton, who scored 15 points along with six steals, and Jaala Hawkins, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Central, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 45-29 loss to Rogers on Tuesday. Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Central's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Akeema Rivera, who scored 11 points, and Jill Huffaker who scored four points.
Central struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Lawrence County's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-9. As for Central, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Thursday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Lawrence County have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 30.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Central, though, as they've been averaging only 30.7 rebounds per game. Given Lawrence County's sizeable advantage in that area, Central will need to find a way to close that gap.
