Baseball Recap: St. John Lutheran Has No Trouble Against First Coast Christian

St. John Lutheran picked up another tournament win on Monday. They blew past the First Coast Christian Knights 12-1. Considering the Saints have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Adam Stillwell and Christian Bessoni made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Stillwell struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Bessoni tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stillwell has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Stillwell scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Bessoni went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Bessoni has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Cooper Gloege was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Luis Roman, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base.

St. John Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

St. John Lutheran is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for First Coast Christian, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-4-1 record.

St. John Lutheran has already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Countryside Christian on the 10th. As for First Coast Christian, they will face off against Christ's Church Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
