The Pieper Warriors will take on the Sam Houston Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Pieper's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last eight games.
Last Friday, Pieper earned a 33-23 victory over Liberty Hill. Given Pieper's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Liberty Hill is ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pieper found their leader in underclassman Brady Hopper, who rushed for 121 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Jake South was another key contributor, throwing for 243 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Sam Houston's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 52-21 loss at the hands of Alamo Heights.
Despite the loss, Sam Houston got a solid performance out of Amir Calhoun, who threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Pieper has yet to lose a game on the road this season, leaving them with a 9-1 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.2 points per game. As for Sam Houston, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
