The Washington Huskies will head out to take on the American Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Washington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Washington will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Mission San Jose, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Warriors on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Huskies have posted against the Warriors since May 3, 2018.
Ynez Lopez and Aubree Rambaran made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Lopez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rambaran pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Lopez went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Rambaran went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Lopez has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Molly Racklin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those triples were her first of the season. Elena Fotopoulos was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mission San Jose only managed four.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between American and James Logan, and James Logan kept the tradition alive. The Eagles might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 18-1 to the Colts, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
American saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amber Hillman, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
The win was the third in a row for Washington, bringing their record up to 4-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for American, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
American's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Washington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. It's a different story for American, though, as they've only averaged .222. Will they be able to contain Washington's hitters?
Washington suffered a grim 12-5 defeat to American in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
