Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calaveras to victory, but perhaps none more so than Connor Fuller, who went 6 of 8 en route to 17 points along with six boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Fuller a new career-high in assists (four). Clifton was another key player, putting up 19 points and six assists.
Calaveras smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Big Valley Christian ended up a good deal behind Bret Harte on Friday and lost 63-49.
Calaveras will need focus on slowing down Boone, one of several Big Valley Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7 for 12 on his way to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The contest was Boone's 15th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Austin Lung, who went 5 of 8 en route to 10 points.
Calaveras' victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Big Valley Christian, they dropped their record down to 11-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's game: Calaveras has made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having averaged 8.2 threes per game. It's a different story for Big Valley Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 three-pointers. Given Calaveras' sizable advantage in that area, Big Valley Christian will need to find a way to close that gap.
Calaveras came up short against Big Valley Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 63-59. Can Calaveras avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
