The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Erie came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Mercyhurst Prep is ranked 221st).
Meanwhile, Fort LeBoeuf's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight defeat. They took a 65-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of General McLane. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Fort LeBoeuf in their matchups with General McLane: they've now lost four in a row.
Erie's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for Fort LeBoeuf, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
