Softball Recap: Clifton Central Extends Winning Streak to Three

Clifton Central entered their tilt with Paxton-Buckley-Loda on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 9-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Comets also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

Sydney Jemar made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Blair Bottorff was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Rayven Perkins was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Clifton Central's win bumped their record up to 11-6-1. As for Paxton-Buckley-Loda, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clifton Central will face off against Gardner-South Wilmington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Comets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Paxton-Buckley-Loda, they will be playing at home against Blue Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
