Basketball Recap: Yorkville Christian's Loss Ends 11-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Christ the King last Saturday, Yorkville Christian came back down to earth. The Yorkville Christian Mustangs fell 47-35 to the Timothy Christian Trojans on Thursday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Danielle Bulson, who posted six points along with 11 boards and five assists. Bulson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Ava DiQui was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Yorkville Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Timothy Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sami Drye led the charge by going 6 of 13 on her way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elisabeth Van Den Berg, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 boards.

Yorkville Christian's defeat ended an 11-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5. As for Timothy Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Yorkville Christian will face off against Aurora Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Timothy Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-40 loss against Illiana Christian on the 18th.
