The Four Corners Coyotes scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 63-45 win over Bell Creek Academy. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Four Corners as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Four Corners' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karina Cruz led the charge by scoring 18 points along with five steals. Danielys Pena Ponce was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Bell Creek Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Christyana Allen and Kendal Curtis. Allen scored 19 points, while Curtis scored 11 points. That was a full 42.2% of Bell Creek Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Bell Creek Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Four Corners pushed their record up to 3-5 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points per game. As for Bell Creek Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Four Corners will take on Ridgeview Global Studies Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bell Creek Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Ruskin Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. Ruskin Christian and Bell Creek Academy are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
