Owen Everitt was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Millersport's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 0-9 when he doesn't). Everitt was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Millersport let Darian Smith and Cash Inman run wild. Smith went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Inman went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Smith is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Jacob Eiginger was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Millersport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Wellington School has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.47 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They came up short against Grove City Christian, falling 11-1. The loss continues a trend for the Jaguars in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.
Wellington School's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Millersport, their record now sits at 4-9.
Millersport might still be hurting after the 14-0 loss they got from Wellington School when the teams last played on April 7th. Can the Lakers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
